And you need a No-CD patch (also for Version 1.0.2. You also need the newest Patch Version 1.0.2.9 3. You will need to manually reload your setups every session. First you need to replace the original 3Dsetup.exe from NSR with a 3Dconfig/setup.exe from a other Image Space engine game like GTR 1 or 2, F1 Challenge 99-02 or NASCAR Thunder 2004. It will also prevent the game from being able to remember setup changes or the default setups for each session. There is something important that should be noted about the No-CD patch: It will disable the game's ability to create track folders in your setups directory and copy the default setups into those respective folders.
Go into Task Manager and re-enable the startup items that you previously disabled. Simply take the 3DConfig file from Nascar thunder 2003 and replace the 3d config file in Nascar thunder 2004 with the '03 one. Go into System Configuration and remove the 2 GB RAM limit. default highest resolution is 1280x768, however some modification can increase this resolution. Finish and wait a couple of minutes for NASCAR SimRacing to run, then quit the game. Launch 3DSetup.exe and select a resolution with a 4:3 aspect ratio (any other aspect ratio will result in the image being stretched or compressed horizontally). Go into Task Manager and disable all startup item. Go into System Configuration and limit the RAM to 2 GB. Copy NT2004's 3DConfig.exe file to NSR's root directory and rename it to 3DSetup.exe. In the compatibility options for NSR, select "Run as administrator." Trying to load Nascar Thunder 2004 on a new Windows 10 machine. NASCAR SimRacing Patch v1.0.2. Install the No-CD patch for NSR v1.029 (NSR uses a DRM that is incompatible with Windows 10). Install NASCAR SimRacing followed by the 1.029 beta patch. You may also want to try installing NSR onto ReactOS to avoid having to reinstall Windows XP every 30 days or to avoid the security risk of installing a No-CD patch (let me know if that works). The safer alternative is to install the game onto a Windows XP virtual machine or onto a physical machine running Windows XP. I take no responsibility for anything that happens to your system. In most cases using a No-CD or Fixed EXE will solve this problem! Some original games do not work when a certain application has been installed, like DAEMON Tools. When using Fixed Files make sure to use a Firewall which controls outgoing traffic, as some games call back to report the use of these modified files!. 
When this happens use the original EXE to play online, else you could find yourself banned from the game!
